Happy New Year!

Do you have plans this evening to ring in the New Year?   Dennis and I are cooking our own steak and potato dinner - just a quite evening in...whether I'll be able to stay up until midnight is up in the air!  I'm usually the "early to bed, early to rise" type.  I've been known to fall asleep and miss the whole thing!

I had a couple of requests for New Year's cards.
Kirby, one of the guys I work, with always gets his wife a New Year's card.  I think it 's a special night for them, besides being New Year's.  Did you propose on New Year's, Kirby?
And one of my best customers, Suzanne, ordered a couple for friends.   Vintage images, of couse and pretty dyed seam binding ribbon.  Oh, such sweet things.  Happy, happy 2011 to all of you!

Happy 49th!

My mom and dad celebrated their 49th Wedding Anniversary today!  They're almost to the big 5 - 0!  They both asked for cards, so here are the cards I made for them to give each other.
The lighting is a little strange...it was overcast when I took the pictures, so I had to use some lighting.  Never can get it quite right!
This one is for Daddy, since he loves to fish.
Funny though that it's a vintage ad for thread!  Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!

Valentines at the Cutting Cafe

This post makes me a little sad...this card marks the end of my six months at The Cutting Cafe.  It's been great creating with Regina's creations.  I'm so glad to have been a part of her Design Team.
The I Love You block is from Mini Sentiments set.  I created the background using a heart from Fun with Hearts
They are both great, versatile sets.  The little girl and her dog are from a sweet vintage Valentine I found at one of my local antique stores.  Thanks for everything, Regina!  I will miss you!

Tag for Pixie

I really love tags...they make a package so special.   This one was made using recycled packaging and items from the December Pixie kit.  I love the pretty crocheted flowers and the Prima flower middles.
The hanger is essentially made from "trash."  It's the strip that you cut off the bottom of the paper.  Wouldn't this look great on a brown paper package tied up with string?

Merry Christmas!

Lauren and Paul arrived Wednesday afternoon, so it's already been a great holiday.  Just got through putting two loaves of poppy seed bread in the oven, which will be part of Christmas breakfast....
Just wanted to say:  Merry Christmas to everyone!

Guy Card for Pixie Dust

Right before the December Pixie Dust Paperie kit arrived, I had a request for a guy birthday card.  It's amazing how versatile the paper and accessories are in this kit.  The papers on this card are actually Christmas papers!
The journal cards from Tattered Angels are really cool and the clock one worked really well for this card.  Did you know there is DAILY inspiration on the Pixie Dust blog?  Check it out!

Pixie Challenge

Kirsty has this month's challenge posted at Pixie Dust Paperie.  Now through January 5th use the sketch for your creation.  One winner will get the October Kit "Fall in Love" - the entire kit!  One randomly selected winner will get 4 yards of hand dyed crinkle ribbon (2 colors, 2 yards each)!  Check out the blog for all the details.  Here's Kirsty's sketch:
This is my take.
Yes, St. Patrick's Day already!  The background paper is a sneak peek at the next Pixie kit.  Aren't those little girls adorable with their big hats?

Triangle Snowflakes and a Christmas House

We had our annual Christmas lunch at work on Monday.   Besides ordering the food, I like to do a little decorating.  Inspired by a snowflake I saw in one of the Better Homes and Garden Christmas magazines, we (Mika and Diana) made snowflakes out of our Triangle A&E invoices.
The invoice copies are pastel and look great as snowflakes!
I  attached some white glitter snowflakes from Michaels, along with some vintage images.
We hung them from the ceiling and they looked great!
One of the other decorations is this Christmas house I made back in September.
I used Papertrey Ink stamps to create the front, back and sides.

Vintage images were needed, of course, along with vintage buttons and that great red ribbon.  Merry Christmas!

In Paris

About four years ago, we went to magical Paris...  This is my daughter, Lauren, at the Eiffel Tower.
The background is one of the Tattered Angels cards that comes in the Pixie Dust Paperie kit.  I just had to use those pretty banner stickers again.
And I'm still loving that black and pink combo.  Check out all the other projects on the Pixie blog.  Now I have a new little memory of Paris to put in my living room.

Happy Anniversary!

My daughter, Lauren and her husband, Paul, celebrated their second anniversary a couple of days ago.    They've known each other since they were in eighth grade and are high school sweethearts.

It's amazing how quickly time has gone by...Lauren was just a little girl yesterday and now she's been married two years!

Happy Home

I've always been blessed with a happy home...when I was a child and now as a grownup.  When I saw this beautiful "Happy" paper in the kit from Pixie Dust Paperie, I knew I wanted to make a Happy Home house.
I just love the papers and banner stickers from My Minds Eye and the gorgeous seam binding ribbons.
Here's the back of the house.
I cut a chair with my Cricut.  I know, I know "chair-ished" is a little corny, but I went with it anyway!  And there's one of those beautiful Prima flower centers decorating the ribbon.   I'm very HAPPY how my little house turned out...and it was all possible with Pixie Dust's kit!  Check out the blog for gorgeous projects using the Times Square Twenty 11 kit.  Happy Blessings from my house to yours!

Cutting Cafe...Not Even A Mouse

Not a creature was stirring...not even a mouse!  Clement Moore's Twas the Night Before Christmas is one of my favorites.  This little mouse is so cute, sitting on the mantle in candle glow, surely reading Twas the Night Before Christmas
The mouse word circle is from The Cutting Cafe - I really like the font on this.  And, of course, it's digital so you can make it any size you wish.
The sentiment on the tag is also from the set.  How's your Christmas shopping coming along?  I need to stop for a moment and think about what I've made and what I've bought and what I still need to do!  Thanks for stopping by!
