Mom and Dad's Christmas Gift

Hi! I'm already busy working on my next show. Had to transition from Christmas to Valentine's and Easter! Yes, Valentine's and Easter already! But, first I wanted to share the Christmas gift I made for my mom and dad. The tree is from Kaisercraft. It is really awesome and easy to work with. All the pieces come apart so painting and papering is a snap! I used some Collage Press paper and painted the trunk and limbs velvet brown and sprayed it with Walnut Gold Tattered Angels mist. Instead of the wooden ovals that came with it, I used Tattered Angels frames for our pictures and finished it off with ribbon, vintage buttons, and a banner. I used some of my favorite pictures...that's Lauren on the top at about two years and then Lauren and Paul in Paris. That's my mom and dad's wedding photo to the left, my grandma and me (when I was little), another of Lauren (who's the favorite here, I wonder?), and then a wedding photo of Dennis and me. I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was a little strange, since travel was almost impossible. We actually set a record here in OKC! My parents and Paul's mom and brother couldn't get here, so we are going to have the rest of our Christmas today. I love the Madonna image I used on this card. She is so pretty!

Oh, Deer!

Hi! Just dropping in for a second to post one more card
and show that we have a WHITE CHRISTMAS!
I can't remember when we had a white Christmas last. It is soooo pretty outside! Lauren and Paul are here. We're having a great time baking cookies and finishing gifts (yes, I know...so last minute), Hope you're having a wonderful Christmas Eve, too!

Sweet Vintage Christmas Cards

Can you believe Christmas is almost here? I was saying that it just didn't feel like Christmas yet, then the other night I watched "The Grinch." I've always loved it and watching it made it feel a little more like Christmas for me. I'm showing three sweet cards made with two darling little angels and one darling little girl.

You know how I feel about vintage images...just can't get enough!

I have a few more Christmas things to post and will try to do that this week. Hope you're in the Christmas spirit - if not, go watch "The Grinch!"

I love advent calendars!

Here is my version of the advent calendar. I kept thinking the weather would clear up and I'd get a sunny day to take pictures of it. I did get a sunny day, but it was very windy outside and I couldn't find a great place inside to take pictures. So...this was the best I could do. You can see most of it, but I really didn't capture all the sparkle.
I love the idea of a muffin tin transformed into an advent calendar. After all, is has the treat box built in for each day!
I spray painted the muffin tin and then covered that with a pearl paint. I also rubbed it lightly with distress ink.
I used heavy duty magnets (the shipping cost more than the product!) to create each square.
It makes me smile everytime I see it. And that's saying quite a lot, since I sold several and got rather tired by time I had made them all! Are you ready for Christmas? I've still got some gifts to make...gotta go get busy!

Snowflakes are winter's butterflies

No snow yet, but it has turned cold. I really like that saying about butterflies and snowflakes and decided to make a card to go with it. Are you ready for Christmas? I still have quite a few things to make...but I'm getting there. Hope you have a happy week!

A Happy Thanksgiving and an Angel Card

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Our's was really awesome...wonderful people and wonderful food. The dry brine was really a success! That turkey had to be the moistest and best tasting I've ever had - and I wasn't the only one who thought so! It was fabulous to have Lauren here a few extra days than the usual weekend.

I think this card is the first Christmas card I created this year. I start way ahead of time and I kind of forget by time the season comes around. I love the vintage image and, of course, used lots of glitter on it. I surrounded it with a handstamped frame and paper from the Wassail collection from Basic Grey. The paper for the star was first embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Have a wonderful week and a great start to the Christmas season!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is already here. Lauren and Paul will arrive on Wednesday. Can't wait for them to get here! We've started thawing the turkey. We're trying a dry brine this year. Have you ever tried that? Apparently two days before cooking, the entire turkey is covered in salt and wrapped in cheese cloth. It's supposed to keep the turkey moist. We'll see... What I'm worried about right now is that it won't be thawed out by Tuesday morning.

I love the image of the sleigh on it's way to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving. These two cards were made awhile ago. Always have to work ahead. Right now I'm about to finish all the Christmas orders and I've been working on some new Valentine things. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Fairies and Frogs

Hi! Hope everyone's weekend has been wonderful! It's cooled off quite a bit...feels more like November. I've used this image before (on a journal). I really like it and decided to use it again on this card. When we moved into our house (21 years ago) there was a little albino frog (or was it a toad) living in our basement. I remember being amazed that he'd been there long enough to lose his color. Lauren and I worried about him for awhile, but then decided he'd been fine for quite some time...

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Birthday

Hi! Hope you've had a great weekend. Lauren was here and I always love when she's at home. Here are a couple of birthday cards that have the cutest little girl vintage images. The polka dot paper and cupcake is from the new Nook and Pantry collection from Basic Grey

The pretty scallop on the round card is cut with the Cricut Storybook cartridge. Have a happy week!

A Little Note

Again, I love these scalloped cards! I think this is one of my favorite cards ever... That little bird is so cute! Can you believe it's already November? Where does the time go?

Happy Trick or Treat!

Today is Halloween and it may not be the same without a little one around, but I still love it! Of course, I haven't had a little one for a long, long time. We'll give out candy, but I miss the costume and the pictures and actually going trick or treating. Here are a few more goodies I created this season:

Isn't this treat box cute? It's from a template I got from Papertrey Ink. I love the stamp of the trick or treaters.

I love this scallop circle card - it's from the Wild Card Cricut cartridge. The cute critters are from Doodlebug.

Isn't this little witch darling? I love her little kitty, too! Reminds me of my black kitty...

Have a Happy Halloween!
